Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Authors who wish to submit manuscripts to Pluralia: Journal of Religion and Society must ensure that their manuscripts comply with the journal’s focus and scope, formatting requirements, ethical standards, and citation style. Manuscripts that do not follow the author guidelines may be returned to the authors before the review process.

General Requirements

  • The manuscript must be original and has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
  • The manuscript must be written in clear academic English.
  • The manuscript should be between 6,000 and 8,000 words, including references.
  • The manuscript must follow the article template provided by the journal.
  • The manuscript must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system.

Article Structure

Research articles should generally include the following components:

  1. Title: concise, informative, and reflecting the main focus of the article.
  2. Author Information: author name, institutional affiliation, country, and email address.
  3. Abstract: 200–250 words, containing the research objective, method, main findings, and contribution.
  4. Keywords: 4–6 keywords, arranged alphabetically.
  5. Introduction: background, research gap, research objective, and argument.
  6. Methods: research design, data sources, data collection, and data analysis.
  7. Results: presentation of research findings based on data.
  8. Discussion: interpretation of findings, theoretical engagement, and contribution to the field.
  9. Conclusion: summary of findings, implications, limitations, and suggestions for future research.
  10. References: all cited works must be listed according to the journal’s citation style.

Citation and Reference Style

The journal uses the APA 7th edition citation and reference style. Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote to ensure consistency and accuracy.

References

  • References should prioritize recent scholarly sources, especially journal articles, books, and reputable academic publications.
  • At least 80% of references should come from journal articles, books, or academic book chapters.
  • Authors are encouraged to cite relevant international literature.
  • All references cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and vice versa.

Submission Preparation Checklist

  • The manuscript is original and has not been published elsewhere.
  • The manuscript follows the journal template.
  • The manuscript is written in academic English.
  • The manuscript follows APA 7th edition style.
  • The manuscript has been checked for grammar, formatting, and similarity.
  • The author has removed identifying information from the manuscript for double-blind review.
